I speak English

I speak English. I am English. Therefore the way I speak is the correct way of speaking/spelling the English language.

Before I get thrown a ridiculous amount of abuse my way, hear me out. I am a British voice on the internet – from England – whose native language (including its Latin origin) is one of the most well known and most spoken language in the world, whether it be an individual’s first, second or third language. However, the English language is not spoken or spelt the same as its mother country (England) universally and it irritates me somewhat. You’d have thought that one language would be the same across the entire globe. Nope. The differences between British English and American English, for example, varies a lot whether its down to pronunciation, spelling or even the actual name for something. If I’m going to be completely honest, it annoys me that there is such a thing as ‘British English’; it is just English! Continue reading

Being pushed in front of a lorry… And then waking up.

Have you ever wondered what your dreams actually mean, and why they happen the way they do? I’ve often wondered about the reasons behind some of the dreams I get and why I have the particular ones I do. The definition of a dream is ‘a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep’ (Dictionary.com). So, to my understanding, this means that I must have been thinking or at least feeling about the images/emotions involved within certain dreams for the events of them to take place, if that makes any sense. So why is it that some of my dreams are so messed up and weird? Continue reading

A Letter to Theatre

I’ve just been looking through old Word documents on my laptop, trying to free up some potential space on my hard drive, and I came across a document titled Dear Theatre. Unsure as to what it was, I opened it and found a letter that my housemate had asked me to write to help her with a script she was planning to write; either for the script writing module we both took in third year or for her own pleasure, I can’t remember. I’d forgotten that I’d written it but looking back over it I realised how unhappy I was at the time of writing it and how little self confidence I had at the time. There are still points in it that I somewhat agree with whereas there are others that I’m not too sure about now.

I thought I would share this little bit of literature, something I that wrote a little over a year ago, for you all to see. Continue reading

New Years Resolutions // 2015

The New Year is just around the corner and it is the infamous time of year that people all over the world start to accumulate resolutions that they wish to achieve for the year to follow. For a lot of people, this is a novelty which they say they will do but then either forget about or give up shortly into the year. I am usually (and typically) one of these people. Every year I come up with New Years resolutions but always, without fail, accomplish little to none of them. The worst part is, my resolutions then end up being repeats from the previous year that I failed to finish or even start; such things along the lines of eat healthier, drop a dress size or more, see more people, stop biting my nails (one that has actually been years in the making but has started to become a reality over the last few years).

It’s now gotten to the point where I actually think to myself, what resolutions (if any) do I want to set myself for the following year to come, and will I actually make any of them a reality? Continue reading

Happy Christmas!

Just a quick little post to wish you all a Happy Christmas! I hope that you all enjoyed your day and that you got lots of lovely gifts from family, friends and loved ones. I, myself, have had a very chilled and relaxed day with my family – I even got my Dad to smile properly for a nice photo of him and my Mum! I received lots of lovely presents that I am very fortunate and appreciative for. Maybe I’ll do a post about it in the next few days, or would that come across as showing off?

Apologies for the poor quality, this is obviously a screen save from my SnapChat.

The next few days are likely to be spent chilling out at home, possibly doing some baking, and looking forward to the New Year, which I’ll be celebrating in Coventry this year with the Other Half and his family and friends.

If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you still had an enjoyable and relaxing day.

Until next time,

Chloe ♥

Budget Festive Decorations

Christmas is the time of year for families and friends to all get together, be merry and celebrate. Alongside that, it’s also a chance to decorate the house and bring festive cheer to your home. For some, the thought of splashing out on new decorations and ornaments every year seems like nothing, whereas for others its a different story. Decorations can often be quite expensive leaving some individuals reluctant to hand over their hard earned money on something that will only ever make an appearance for a couple weeks in the year. Additionally, decorating for small spaces can be a struggle as this can sometimes lead to ‘overriding’ and cluttering up your valuable space. This post gives suggestions on how to make a small space (i.e. a box room bedroom) feel Christmasy without over cluttering or spending too much money. Continue reading

A Lot Can Happen in a Year

As a lot of people at the moment, I have the TimeHop app installed on my iPhone and I enjoy browsing through it everyday to see what my past self had been up to that date one, two, three, plus years ago. Some days I find it quite amusing, and some I cringe at how whiney I was and at the sheer number of statuses I used to post in a single day (some often went into the double digits bracket!) But then there are others that I’ve been saddened by, particularly in relation to how I felt about a relationship with my ex and even those I’d considered to be friends. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fully aware of all the stuff I’ve gone through throughout my life but re-reading past statuses from various social media sites has really left me wondering why I allowed myself to be so unhappy for so long. ‘Tis the Season to be Jolly

It is now officially the 1st of December and perfectly acceptable to talk about all things Christmas. Hooray!

Believe me when I say this, it has been a very gruelling and frustrating few weeks and not because of anything particularly stressful or work related (lack of, should I say?) but simply because of the fact that Christmas seems to have dominated the UK since early September and has suddenly picked up even more so over the last couple weeks of November. I’m not a Scrooge – I promise! – but I do believe and feel strongly that Christmas should stay well within December and that it shouldn’t lurk its head or presence before then. It’s perfectly logical, yet others think I’m a bit weird when I express this opinion. Continue reading

November Haul

I went on a little shopping trip with a friend of mine over the weekend and thought I’d share with you my purchases. I wouldn’t really consider this a ‘haul’, as such, as I don’t think I actually bought all that much (whereas my bank account seems to think I have!) but I just think it’s easier to describe this way, and also allows for less words in the title! So, where to start!?

ALSO, before I start, I’ve tried to include as many links for these products as I can, provided that a web link is available or a website in general. All links have been highlighted in orange. Enjoy! Continue reading
